Compare three actual Holzkern designs: the 45 mm walnut-and-marble Askja, the 24 mm Hanwi with a mother-of-pearl dial, and the 12 mm-wide Acoustic bracelet made with walnut and stainless steel.
A watch and a Bandlet are different products
Holzkern combines natural materials with metal across watches and accessories, but the full product name matters. Askja Walnut/Marble is a watch with a chronograph. Hanwi Mother-of-pearl/Gold is a smaller watch. Acoustic Walnut/Antique Silver is a Bandlet bracelet, not another watch with the dial hidden in the photograph.
The material pairing in each name is a useful first clue, not a complete specification. A watch described with walnut can still contain stainless steel, and a gold-coloured model need not have a solid-gold case. Compare the technical panel alongside the styled photograph to understand what you will actually wear.
Askja: walnut, grey marble and a 45 mm case
Askja’s case is listed at 45 mm in diameter and combines walnut wood with grey stainless steel. The dial is real grey marble. The adjustable bracelet also combines walnut and grey stainless steel, so the product is not an entirely wooden watch. Its character comes from the contrast between warm grain, cool stone and metal.
The technical details specify a TMI quartz movement and K1 mineral glass. Do not replace that glass description with sapphire merely because the watch looks substantial. The 45 mm diameter is also a useful comparison point: inspect the case size as well as the bracelet adjustment rather than assuming all Holzkern watches share the same wrist presence.
Askja’s chronograph: more than the appearance of subdials
The Askja description explicitly includes a chronograph function. Holzkern’s explanation describes two case pushers: the upper pusher starts and stops the timer, while the lower one resets it. That timing function is a concrete distinction from a straightforward watch chosen only for its dial material.
Keep the distinction between elapsed-time measurement and the ordinary display of the time. A busy dial is not by itself enough to identify the functions of another model. If the chronograph is important to your choice, retain the Askja model name and consult its supplied manual for the exact operating instructions rather than assuming every similar watch uses the same controls.
Hanwi: a smaller mother-of-pearl design
Hanwi Mother-of-pearl/Gold has a 24 mm stainless-steel case in a gold colour and a white mother-of-pearl dial. The technical panel specifies a Miyota quartz movement and an adjustable gold-coloured stainless-steel bracelet. Here the natural visual feature is nacre, not a walnut dial or a marble face.
The difference from Askja is not simply a lighter colour. Diameter, dial material, case construction and movement listing all change. The page also lists water resistance up to 5 ATM for Hanwi. Keep that specification attached to Hanwi; it is not evidence that the wooden Askja or every Bandlet carries the same rating. Use the exact model’s guidance when planning wear around water.
Acoustic: a 12 mm-wide link bracelet
Acoustic Walnut/Antique Silver is a Bandlet made from walnut and 316L stainless steel in an antique-silver finish. Its listed width is 12 mm, and the length is adjustable. These are bracelet dimensions, not a watch-case diameter or a ring size, even when the layout of a technical table uses an awkward generic label.
The visible appeal is the repeated link structure and the contrast between wood and metal. There is no movement to compare because this is jewellery rather than a timepiece. Antique Silver describes the finish in the name; the material specification is stainless steel, so it should not be presented as a solid-silver bracelet.
Adjustment and what accompanies the products
The product pages list storage packaging, tools and accessories among the supplied items. Holzkern also explains that watches and Bandlets are supplied with tools and replacement links to help adjust the fit at home. This is useful context for an adjustable link bracelet, rather than a claim that one fixed length is the same for everyone.
For a first comparison, separate case diameter or bracelet width from circumference. Askja’s 45 mm and Hanwi’s 24 mm describe the watch cases; Acoustic’s 12 mm describes bracelet width. None of those numbers alone states your wrist circumference. Check the product’s adjustment instructions and actual fit instead of choosing by a number that measures a different part.
Natural patterns and a practical final comparison
Holzkern states that genuine natural materials vary in colour and texture. Askja’s marble pattern and walnut grain, or Hanwi’s mother-of-pearl reflections, should therefore be read as examples in the photographs rather than a promise that each line and mark will repeat exactly on another piece.
Choose Askja if the large walnut-and-marble chronograph is the design you want, Hanwi if the smaller nacre watch is the relevant comparison, or Acoustic for a link-style bracelet without a watch. The useful checklist is exact model, natural material, metal specification, dimensions, movement where applicable and model-specific water guidance. That gives a concrete introduction without inventing performance tests or treating every nature-led accessory as the same product.
